Caring for your cat

Keeping your cat as healthy as possible is easy. At the Kensington Vet Clinic we believe in preventative veterinary care which means preventing disease rather than just treating your cat after it gets sick.

Each year your cat should receive a thorough examination and vaccination for feline enteritis and the feline respiratory disease. We also offer a vaccine for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) to cats that are at risk. This yearly visit means that your cat becomes familiar with the clinic and the veterinarian can get to know your cat and identify any problems you may not be aware of.

Worming your cat is important to keep them healthy. Nowadays there are products available as a spot-on for those cats who do not like tablets or paste. Please speak to one of our friendly nurses for worming advice and the products most suited to your cat.

Cats who are outside often pick up fleas from the environment and to prevent this causing a problem for your cat, we recommend a monthly flea product. There are many products available and it is best to discuss their use with one of our nurses. We are more than happy to help you choose what will work best for your cat.

For optimal health you cat also will need optimal nutrition. Our trained staff can help tailor a nutritional plan for your cat.
