Puppy Preschool
Puppy preschool is a great way to begin a life long bond with your dog. The socialisation period for a puppy is between 6 and 16 weeks of age. During this period it is very important that the pup is exposed to as many positive experiences as possible, as this will shape its future behaviour.  Puppy preschool is a great way for your puppy to have fun and learn about the big wide world; and for you to learn to communicate with your pup. Julie Barber runs our puppy classes with her assistant Frances Hammer who is also a qualified Delta Society instructor.

Puppies should be aged between 8 and 16 weeks of age. This is the ideal time to get your puppy well socialised with other dogs and people. Puppy Preschool offers a controlled environment for puppies to interact with other puppies of all breeds and sizes. Julie will help with any problems or concerns you may have concerning your puppy's behaviour, while getting you started on the right foot with training and lifestyle for a healthy dog.

Please ensure your pup is on a collar and lead at the start of each class. We recommend that you do not feed your pup at least 1-2 hours before class. Treats and a mat for pup to sit on will be provided for you. If you have a particularly fussy pup you may want to bring your own treats along or your pup's favourite toy.

We recognise that your puppy is part of your family. If your family also includes children we encourage their involvement with puppy training however to be fair to other class participants please only bring school aged children to class.

Puppies must be vaccinated, wormed and healthy to participate in Puppy Pre- School. We will need to see proof of vaccination before your puppy can be enrolled.

Lessons are held by Julie Barber, assisted by Frances Hammer. Julie and Frances are accredited Delta-Canine Good Citizen Instructors. Julie is a member of the VCA, the Positive Animal Trainers Society of Victoria and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers of Australia. Julie is committed to humane training and uses and promotes the use of reward-based methods. She rejects methods that rely on punishment and the use of correctional devices and is committed to on-going canine professional development and public education.

Classes will run for 5 weeks on Thursday nights, at the Kensington Vet Clinic, and run from 6.30pm til 7.30pm. Cost for the five week course is $100.
